Alternate Worlds
Short Films
With a pandemic still not entirely in the rearview, weird new diseases being named after zoo animals, and scary world leaders waging war at each other – It’s sometimes easy to wonder if we ourselves are living in an alternate world– and though we are indeed living in reality– Thankfully, these filmmakers dare to take us to new places on screen. This program of films are grounded in the present but are also fiercely optimistic, innovative, and imaginative. Whether making a comment on technology, immigration, settlerhood, or simply making us “oooo” with wonder - these films ask us to question our perceived reality, while offering us respit from the lives we lead. - Aisha Evelyna
This year, we will be screening shorts from Alternate Worlds at Paradise Cinemas, 1006 Bloor St W, Toronto. Screenings will be held on Thursday, October 13th at 7:45PM (71 Minutes).
